Moment by Moment
Every moment without fail your grace sustains me
though life has drained me and I feel I can’t go on
it’s at that moment when I’m weakest that you fill me
then I’m carried by your hands gently home.
There is no way without your grace, without your pardon
the burden of my guilt would be to great and
when combined with the ever present toil of living
oh that dreadful fallen state.
Misery breeding misery fear and sickness
to a soul despairing life
where the anguish and the darkness crush unfettered
every single hope or ray of light.
But there you came where I lay broken, bleeding.
There you came and in the darkness found me where
none other ever dared to venture
looking for the lost and hopeless there.
Now every moment without fail your grace sustains me.
Though at times I’m weak and feel I can’t go on,
it’s at those moments when I’m weakest that you fill me
and I’m carried by your hands gently on.
